On Wednesday, April 3 we left the home of John and Bev Leonard loaded down with snacks and tips for our route for the day. Bev called ahead to make sure we would have a guide at the American Cemitery near Americana SP. We wouldn't have gotten in without her help. It was a great joy and privilege to spend the night with this incredible family. We were well fed and felt very blessed.
We had three stops planned for this day. I'll tell about each in a separate post. Our first stop was the Word of Life Bible Institute in Atibaia SP. Byron had his share of toll roads the day before so I punched in no tolls and all the dirt paths the GSP could find and off we went. Did you know there are dirt roads with the city limits of one of the major metropolis's of the country? We found them all!
We came in the "back gate"of the gated community that is home to the Word of Life Institute. The guard house was rather imposing and we began to wonder if the GPS had goofed until we were finally allowed to enter.
We were warmly greeted by Pastor Roberto and Pastor Steve. Pastor Roberto showed us around, told us about the school's history and programs and answered all of our questions. The school is one of the oldest of its type in Brazil. It's well known for its high Bible content and emphasis on practical service. It's rather expensive compared to the other two schools we have seen on our trip, but often "you get what you pay for." We enjoyed our brief visit and I was glad for my cup of coffee that day!
