Rio Grande do Sul - Car, Plane and Train?

This wasn't technically a road trip perhaps.  We flew down to Rio Grande do Sul from our home in northern Bahia.  It was an all day long event just flying.  An hour to the airport on our end, three plane rides and a three hour trip on the receiving end.  But all around the town of Encantado, we explored small interior towns and a few big cities by car and jeep.

The green vegetation and large trees were sights for eyes tired of the harshness of the semi-arid of the Northeast.  The influence of Italian and German colonists gave the whole region a certain European flavor.  Christmas decorations and celebrations were everywhere.  The food was great with lots of beef, pasta, salami and polenta.  All in all, it was a trip well made.
