Imagine the biggest beach you've ever seen. Waves and soft breezes. Fresh water, not salty! And only about an hour and a half from where we live.
You can drive right up to the water,
but you might want to use a 4x4!
We did a little slip-sliding in the soft sand
with our Pajero.
The breezes are constant, but it should be noted that this is no shade on the beach unless you bring your own beach umbrella.
There are some snack stands with shelters,
but they only operate on weekends.
There is a small bed and breakfast
that operates on weekends as well.
There is no electricity during the week,
but on weekends the inn
and snack stands run a diesel generator for power.
Our 4x4 Pajero Mitshubishi
The sun was warm,
but the water was rather cold on the day we went.
I recommend going on a super hot day,
well prepared with a cooler full of cold drinks
and snacks, and lather on the sunscreen.
Dunas do Velho Chico is located about 30 minutes north of Casa Nova, Bahia off of BR-235.
