On January 9, 2020 we left our little town of Sobradinho for an even smaller city called São José do Sabugi in the state of Paraíba. We traveled about 450 miles on our way there through the towns of Serra Talhada and Juru. The roads were all two lane paved highways with only a few potholes in a section just before Juru.
The mountain views between Serra Talhada and Triunfo were incredible. Sighting the big city of Patos in the valley coming down the mountains was also beautiful.
The little town of São José do Sabugi is lovely. It only has about 4,000 residents. The streets are very clean and there was hardly a straggly stray dog to be seen, although I did see quite a few well cared for cats with collars sitting on sidewalks and in front of houses.
On our way home we took the northern route through Sousa and part of the state of Ceará. The roads were all two-lane and mostly without pot holes. We were afraid the route was to take much more time because of the many small towns with numerous speed bumps. We made good time however and got back home in 9 hours instead of the 10 it took going.

We were there for a missions event, hence the green team shirts!

The city is just a few miles from the border of the next state - Rio Grande do Norte. On one afternoon we visited a few houses down a dirt road on the way to Santana do Seridó. The skies were so blue and the scenes absolutely stunning with the stone mountains in the background. I read that Santana do Seridó is much cooler than the surrounding area due to its altitude. I hope to visit there someday to confirm that for myself.
