Over the past three months I've been to the scenic Sumidouro Cave five times with sets of visitors coming and going to Lage dos Negros. The place is a little oasis in the middle of a very dry region.Getting there is not so difficult, but beware because often Google Maps does some crazy routing! Just ask our son, William! If you have to cross a flowing creek, turn back and look for a farmer to ask directions.
There is no admission fee on weekdays, but there is a gate. If it's closed, open and shut it back immediately as you go in and do the same on the way out.
The trip from Lage dos Negros takes less than two hours, and will take that much and a little more to get back to Sobradinho. If you have time, stop in Curral Velho for a bite to eat at Santana's and go on to the Salitre Waterfall for a quick dip in the cool water.
