It started as a crazy idea, then the guys started really considering it. Finally, they just picked a date and made it happen. This trip occured at the end of September 2024.
Because time was short and the trip had to be done in a gap between our furlough meetings, the guys decided to ferry their motorcycles from North Carolina to the Colorado mountains. They made the trips going and coming without overnight stops.
Papa Byron and son William enjoyed chilly nights and getting used low oxygen on the mountain peaks. They rode hard to finish their route and get back to North Carolina on time.
They're trip wasn't without some pitfalls like a flat tire and carburetor problems. But both men worked hard to have fun and enjoy the ride.
Byron was on a Suzuki DR650.
William rode a KTM 790.
